ICER ahead of EURO 7
EURO 7, what do you need to know?
Euro 7 is a regulation that sets emission standards for new vehicles sold within the European Union.
For the first time, Euro 7 will also regulate emissions from brake particles (pads + discs) and tyres.
Euro 7 will affect passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, lorries and buses.
At present, emission limits have only been set for passenger cars and vans.
It will come into effect:
- From 29/11/2026 for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
- From 29/11/2027, it will apply to passenger cars and light commercial vehicles that are in production.
Particulate emissions limit for brakes:
- 3 mg/km for pure electric cars
- 7mg/km for pure electric light commercial vehicles
- 11mg/km for most hybrid or combustion light commercial vehicles
At present, it only affects vehicle manufacturers. Regulations for independent replacement parts are still to be decided.
